Which event type should I pick?
There are 7 event types: wedding, birthday, party, corporate, conference, sports and other. Pick the one that names your occasion. Your choice writes the words guests read after they scan your code. That runs from the line above your name to the sentence after their photos land.
Pick it before you hit save. The type is written when the event is created, and no screen in your dashboard offers it again. Your name, date, guest-page language, look, moderation and download settings all stay editable. The type doesn’t.
Can I change the event type later?
No. The type is written once, at creation, and the settings screen has no field for it. Of everything you fill in on that form, this is the only entry with no second chance.
Everything around it moves. You can rename the event, shift the date and switch the guest-page language. The look, moderation, the album password and the cover photo all move too. Say the type stops fitting and your code is already printed. You either live with the wording or build a new event on a new code.
- Name the occasion, not the mood. A 10K is a sports event even if the afternoon turns into a party.
- Open the preview before you save. The upload page shows you that type’s wording. It settles the question in 5 seconds.
- Nothing fits? Pick other. The page stays plain, which beats a type that is close but wrong.
What do my guests see when I pick a type?
The type writes 5 places on the upload page. The small line above your event name, the headline and the sentence under it. Then the prompt over the voice recorder, and the message once the upload finishes.
A wedding puts “the wedding of” above your names and answers a finished upload with “Sent with love.” A sports event puts “race day at” up top and answers with “In the album.” Same buttons, same 3 taps, different words.

Guests never see the type as a label. They only read what it produced.
Which type fits my occasion?
Wedding, birthday and party speak to friends and family. Corporate and conference speak to colleagues and delegates, so their optional signature field asks for a name and company instead of a first name. Sports asks for a bib number.
Other is the honest pick for a christening, a retirement lunch, a class reunion or a memorial. It stays plain. A near-miss type is louder than a neutral one, and “Legendary.” is the wrong answer to a memorial upload.
Does the type set how the page looks?
It sets the starting point, and that part you can change. Creating the event writes one look that dresses the upload page, the album header, the photo grid and the live wall together.
Party starts on Bold. Corporate and conference start on Business. Sports starts on Sport. The rest start on Editorial. There are 6 looks, and the Guest pages screen in your dashboard swaps them whenever you like.
Does the type change my limits or my price?
No. Your plan sets all of it. The free plan takes 60 contributions, holds 5 GB, caps a video at 30 seconds and keeps the album 30 days. The first paid plan is $49 for the event, drops the item cap, raises video to 300 seconds and keeps the album 90 days.
A wedding and a conference on the same plan get identical numbers. When a feature is missing, the plan is where to look, not the type.
Common questions
Can I edit the event type after guests have uploaded?
No. The type stays as you created it. Your photos, your QR code and every other setting are unaffected by that.
Do guests ever see the word “wedding” as a label?
No. They read the sentences that type produced, like “the wedding of” above your names.
What should I pick for a baby shower?
Other. The page stays plain, and the event name already carries the occasion.
Does the type choose the color of my guest page?
No. The accent is taken from your cover photo. The type picks no color at all.
Is the type the same thing as the guest-page language?
No, those are 2 settings. The type picks the wording, the language picks which language it is written in.
