Short answer

Photos are always available. Video and voice notes are on out of the box and can be disabled for each event separately.

You can also set the permitted length lower, and turn on two optional steps: the pre-upload consent sheet and the name question after it. Both are off out of the box.

The 3 kinds of contribution

A guest can share photos, add a video or capture a voice note. On the guest page these stand side by side, each with its own label. Whatever you turn off disappears there fully — there's no greyed-out button raising questions.

Photos can't be disabled. They're the point of an album, and an event without them would be empty.

  1. Open the event. Select the event on the dashboard and open the guest-page settings.
  2. Set the kinds. Video and voice notes switch independently. Photos stay active either way.
  3. Save, then look. Open the guest page yourself afterward. What you see there's what your guests get.

When switching something off helps

Video eats storage and patience. If your album is tight or the location network is weak, an event without video gathers more contributions than one with. Muting voice notes makes sense when it will be loud enough that no one could speak intelligibly anyway.

If unsure leave both on. An extra route costs nothing while no one uses it.

Setting the length lower

Within plan limits, you can lower the video and voice-note limits for your event. The guest page honors it and announces the limit ahead of time. Upwards isn't possible — what the plan doesn't give can't be set on the event.

A tight limit works as direction: 30 seconds sharpens the point, and short contributions get watched more than long ones.

The name question

After sending, the page may ask whose it was, and the guest enters a first name — max 40 characters — or stays anonymous. This step is off out of the box too. Turned on, the answer covers everything else the same guest sends that evening.

The name can show up on a live wall. Handle it like any other contribution you would want to see first.

Looking at what guests see

Open the guest page yourself after each change, on mobile not desktop. You then see precisely what will be waiting on the table, with instant feedback if a route is missing you meant to leave open.

It takes a minute and it's the only test that matters — the settings screen shows switches, the guest page shows the result.

Common questions

Can I switch photos off?

No. Photos work in each event; only video and voice notes can be disabled.

Does a change take effect immediately?

It kicks in for the next guest who opens the page. Anybody with it already open should reload.

Can I raise the video length beyond the plan?

No. Lower is always possible, higher only by changing plan.

Are consent and the name question on by default?

Both are off. You switch them on per event.

How long may a typed name be?

Max 40 characters. Enough for a first name and an extra word, not for a message.

A route is missing on the guest page

Forward us the album name and what you expect to see. A turn on the event is still off in most of these.
