Why it goes through the guest link

The album has 1 entryway, and that's the guest link. It handles your files precisely as it takes a guest s, verifies them the same way and readies them the same way. A second route means only 2 routes that can drift apart, and count differently later.

For you that means: with 200 photographer files, use the link on a computer instead of a phone. The steps are the same; the file picker is just easier.

1. Get the files local. Download from the cloud onto the device you'll upload from. A computer does as well as a phone.
2. Open the guest link. The same link your guests get. It handles your files just as eagerly.
3. Upload in batches. Send large quantities in a few rounds instead of 1. Each file runs solo.

The ceilings apply to you too

A professional photo is larger than a phone photo but fits within the 25 MB per file. Album storage is the actual question: it spans 5 GB on the free tier to 250 GB. Figure out about what the photographer will deliver before you start.

On the free tier the 60-contribution cap is stacked on top. A photographer s delivery exhausts it in 1 go.

RAW files will not go through

Camera files in RAW are turned away, since they aren't among the formats we read. Request your photographer for JPEG, which is what they export for handover regardless. PNG and WebP pass as well, and so does HEIC.

Renaming doesn't help: the header is inspected, not the extension. A RAW file named as a JPEG trips in the same place.

Duplicates cost nothing

If you're unsure whether a batch already went through, send it again. Each file gets a checksum on arrival, and within one event an the same file counts precisely once — against the count and against storage alike.

That holds for truly the same files only. A newly exported version of the same shot is a distinct file and counts again.

Where the pictures land

Uploaded photos sort themselves by upload time, not by shot date. A photographer s delivery arriving weeks later therefore rests at the back instead of among the phone photos from the night. If you would rather it didn't, create a separate event for the professional shots.

With the review step running, your own uploads await approval too. For large batches it's worth turning it off first.

What to agree beforehand

Settle with your photographer what resolution they deliver and whether the photos may go into a shared album. That's a question of your arrangement with them instead of of the technology, and it's more awkward to settle after the party than before.

Confirm how long your album lasts too: 30 days on the free tier, plus 90, 183 or 365. A late delivery shouldn't land in an album that has already expired.
